“plato’s theory of forms: non-material, abstract, yet comprehendable ideas, or ‘forms,’ possess the purest kind of reality. they exist somewhere behind the holes punched through a shell we call the sky, holes being stars. and not the material world we know only through our own senses; they mislead us. things are described in words, which lead to more words, to dance around a definition, an explanation, or essence of an idea. which is the form, floating elsewhere in the universe. never to be truly held.”
- sometimes when i read my old notebooks from college ill find a little inspiration in notes i wrote. like this gem. but than i really think about what i wrote…and ive already considered about a thousand representations of the form: sidetable, all with matching living room settings.
